As of the end of June I’ve done 16 convention and signing appearances so far in 2015, and with at least 9 more appearances lined-up between now and November, I’m declaring July an official “No-Show July” so that I can hunker-down, get some serious writing done, and recharge my batteries for the rest of this year’s touring schedule (which includes a return to New York Comic Con) and book release schedule (which includes more TALES OF MR. RHEE).
Speaking of which… the absolutely jam-packed-with-extras TPB edition of TALES OF MR. RHEE Volume 2: “Karmageddon” by myself (writer), Seth Damoose (illustrator), Anthony D. Lee (colors), and James Reddington (letters) will be available at finer comic shops everywhere this month! Finally!
As many of you out there know, this collection was made possible thanks in part to many loyal Kickstarter patrons, and I’m pleased to announce that backers should be getting their hardcover editions — along will all the Kickstarter Exclusive extras — this month as well!
If you aren’t sure whether your local comic shop will have a copy waiting for you on the shelves, ask them to pre-order you one from Devil’s Due the next time you’re there. I cannot stress enough how proud I am of this collection, from that cover by Eric Powell all the way to the bonus materials at the end. (You could also have them order you a copy of the brand new printing of TALES OF MR. RHEE Volume 1: “Procreation (of the Wicked)” as well, as the first printing is now officially SOLD-OUT. Fear not, though, for the brand new printing’s brand new cover was also illustrated by the ever-amazing Riley Rossmo.
If your local comic shop can’t get you a copy, try Amazon, the Devil’s Due website, or drop me an e-mail about getting yourself a SIGNED copy via the “Contact” button on this very site.
How’s that for service?
(Or if digital comics is your thing, don’t forget that most of my comic work is also available digitally through Comixology by clicking right HERE, including several of my comics that are now completely out of print, including DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (I wrote a story in Issue #1, although the whole collection is great), GRIMM FAIRY TALES #4 (The Halloween 2012 Special), and of course LOVE STORIES (TO DIE FOR), which contains one of my all-time favorite stories I’ve ever written.)
(As for WRITE OR WRONG: A WRITER’S GUIDE TO CREATING COMICS, you can snag a digital copy for your your Kindle via Amazon HERE.)
(And if you procure any of my work via any of those digital sites, feel free to leave a review with your thoughts! That kind of thing really does make a difference!)
All of those parentheticals aside, I’ll be spending the month of July working with a bevy of great artists on TALES OF MR. RHEE Volume 3: “Those Who Fight Monsters…” for Devil’s Due. The next saga in the story of our favorite troubled magician will be one big five-issue story broken into five stand-alone stories, each written by me, focusing on a different character, and illustrated by a different artist or art team.
Some of you may be thinking “Hey, that sounds a lot like the structure you used in NIGHTMARE WORLD…” and a few of you might even wonder if this is a prelude to that much anticipated fourth and final book of that series, to which I say…
Oh… geez. I’ve already been going on and on for quite a bit, now, and all these scripts I need to work on in July won’t just write themselves, you know? Let’s revisit this topic later, shall we?
Be well, my friends. Be sure to come say “Hello” on Facebook (are you a member of “The F(r)iends of Dirk Manning Support Group” yet?) , Twitter, Instagram, or Tumblr .
Your friend in comics,
