January 2020
It’s kind of weird that we’re now officially in 2020, isn’t it?
By the end of 2019 I released twelve single comics of content (the equivalent of an issue a month) while also doing a total of 24 signings and appearances (the equivalent of two cons a month), making 2019 the busiest year of my career to date.
2019 was also the year I wrapped-up my obligations to my previous publisher and moved all my new publishing efforts to the mighty Source Point Press, resulting in them selecting my two new titles HOPE and THE ADVENTURES OF CTHULHU JR. & DASTARDLY DIRK for Free Comic Book Day and Halloween Comic Fest, respectively.
Anyone who’s been paying attention knows how much Source Point Press continued to make tremendous strides as a publisher in 2019, and for them to make me the “face” (or at least half-a-face, I suppose) of the company with these two high-profile events — and then also as the company’s keynote speaker at the Diamond Retailer Summit — demonstrated a level of commitment and faith in me that is not only unparalleled at any point in my career to date, but also one I look forward to continuing to pay forward with the company into 2020 and beyond.
And speaking of 2020 and beyond…I’m extremely excited about the year ahead, as it is currently scheduled to include the releases of not only the collected editions of HOPE Volume 1 and TWIZTID HAUNTED HIGH-ONS Volume 1 (both of which had extremely successful Kickstarter campaigns in 2019), but also the full graphic novel edition (five issues of content!) of THE ADVENTURES OF CTHULHU JR. & DASTARDLY DIRK, WRITE OR WRONG Volume 2, the TALES OF MR. ACT ONE OMNIBUS, TALES OF MR. RHEE Volume 5: “Rockstar Paranoia”, and the next TWIZTID HAUNTED HIGH-ONS mini-series… for starters.
Given the sheer amount of books I have coming out, my touring schedule is going to continue to go through a bit of an evolution this year, with me starting to attend some shows to an every-other-year rotation while also continuing to grow my touring circle. To that end, I encourage you to sign-up for my monthly newsletter, routinely checking the “Signings and Appearances” tab on this very website, and/or staying connected via your social media platform of choice. (I’m on all the major ones with the handle @DirkManning… just look for the avatar of the guy in the top hat and scarf.)
Thanks, everyone! I remain grateful for all your continued support, readership, and friendship on this journey!
Your friend in comics,
Dirk Manning
